This is not correct. I know a few forums with threading and the feature is
really cool if used correctly. Unfortunately, many [new] users don't
understand the concept and confuse whole conversations by their incoherent
posts.

See http://www.clonk.de/forum/de/forum_show.pl for an example of a really
good threaded forum software. Personally, I like threaded web forums best,
because they utilize the advantages of both worlds.
